Supporting the Mental Health of Alberta’s Refugee Students is intended to • build your understanding of the refugee experience; • help you understand trauma and its role in the refugee experience, including the emotional and cognitive impacts of forced migration and other traumatic experiences; • build your capacity in attending to the needs of refugee students and their families, using practical strategies and tools; • provide suggestions for creating responsive programming that ensures an equitable and inclusive educational experience for all learners; and • inspire you to take action to engage with refugee students and their families at a deeper, more empathetic level.
