Raise awareness for suicide prevention and join us in a journey from darkness into light.
September 16 – 23, 2023
What is Run for Life?
Join us on a journey from darkness into light to remember loved ones lost to suicide and raise awareness for suicide prevention. This is a virtual event – participate anywhere, anytime, and in any way: by running, walking, or doing any other physical activity.
When is it?
This year’s event will take place Saturday, Sept. 16 to Saturday, Sept. 23.
Choose where and how; participate anywhere, anytime. Run, walk, hike, bike, yoga, pickleball – any movement that inspires you!
Complete any physical activity, anywhere, anytime between Saturday, Sept. 16 and midnight on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. Remember to snap a photo once you’ve finished!
Join us on social media @cspyyc on Saturday, Sept. 16 for a welcome video and on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 for the Run for Life 2023 commemoration video (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter).
Additional ways to participate
New in 2023: 80,000 steps challenge
For people who love to track steps… we challenge you to walk 10,000 steps each day of the 8 days of Run for Life (Sept 16-23). You may choose to dedicate your steps to a loved one and/or share your progress on social media using your steps-tracking card available in the Run for Life race kit.
Commemorate a loved one
If you’ve lost a loved one to suicide and would like to have them commemorated, send their name and photo to [email protected] by Saturday, Sept. 9 so we can include them in a commemoration video, which will appear on our social media channels @cspyyc on Saturday, September 23.
Let people know you’re participating by sharing a photo or message of hope on social media using #RunforLife2023. Access our social media kit for materials to share or create your own!
Join us once again this year on the closing day of Run for Life at the East Village Riverwalk next to the Simmons Building and George C. King Bridge. This is a pop-up gathering spot to connect with other Run for Life participants for walking, running, commemoration and conversation. All are welcome!
Team Captains and Run for Life supporters will be hosting casual 5km and 10km route meet-up stations, as well as other group activities (bring your dog for a tasty treat and romp around the East Village Dog Park with us, too!).
At 4 pm, we’ll host a 1 km memorial walk starting from the Run for Life tent in East Village.
