Shiawassee County Suicide Prevention Plan 2008

This plan addresses the problem of suicide for all Shiawassee County residents. The goals are to: reduce the incidence of suicide attempts & deaths across the lifespan; develop broad-based support for the strategies in the plan; promote awareness & reduce stigma; develop & implement community-based suicide prevention programs; promote efforts to reduce access to lethal means & methods of suicide; improve the recognition of & response to high-risk individuals within communities; expand & encourage utilization of evidence-based approaches to treatment; improve access to & community linkages with mental health & substance abuse services; provide support services to families, schools, & others who had a relationship with a victim of suicide; & improve & expand surveillance, support & promote research on suicide & suicide prevention.
