Prevalence, Clinical Correlations, Comorbidities, and Suicidal Tendencies in Pathological Korean Gamblers: Results From the Korean Epidemiologic Catchment Area Study

Prevalence, clinical correlations, comorbidities, & suicidal tendencies were examined in a community sample of Korean pathological gamblers. In a sample of 5,333 subjects, the lifetime prevalence rates of pathological gambling & problem gambling were 0.8% & 3.0%, respectively. Associations between pathological/problem gambling & alcohol use disorder, nicotine dependence, mood disorder, anxiety disorder, & suicidality were overwhelmingly positive & significant, even after controlling for age & gender.
