The study reviewed the literature on suicide prevention programs in the workplace, schools, community, medical facilities, jail, & the army by conducting a search of all articles published between 1967-November 2007. From a total of 256 articles, contents of suicide prevention programs & were determined. In 34 studies, the effect of programs was evaluated. Findings reveal the common contents of programs are education & training of individuals, development of a support network, cooperation from internal & external resources, & education & training of managers & staff. Suicide rates, suicide-associated behaviour, & depression, which were assessed in other settings, were not evaluated in the three studies targeting the workplace. (116 refs.) JA
