In this editorial, the author discusses the controversies & negative press surrounding the issue of antidepressant therapy & self-harming behaviours in young people. She concludes that monitoring all patients closely for suicide ideation during the first weeks of antidepressnt therapy & during dose triations should always be the standard of care for good clinical practice.
