A toal of 453 suicides were registered in southeastern Serbia during 1995-2001. Of these, 295 occurred among people over the age of 60 years. Generally, linear trends of suicide among both genders decreased, but the slope of decreasing was greater among males. The linear trends in rates had a statistically important correlation with time. There were no statistical differences in methods & age groups but females died by poisoning & drowning more often than males did. (17 refs.)
