Alberta Takes Action on Community Helpers Collaborative Evaluation Project: Literature Review and Summary Report of Existing Evaluation Tools and Processes. Final

This report has 4 sections. The first provides the context for the literature review, describes Community Helpers, gives an outline of the report, & the literature review methodology. The second section is on the incidence of youth mental illness, youth suicide in Canada & Alberta, suicidal behaviour, risk & protective factors, & mental illness, stigma, & help-seeking behaviours of youth. Section 3 examines mental health promotion including community capacity building, youth-adult partnerships, first aid programs, lay helping models, gatekeeper programs, & school-based interventions. Section 4 discusses the formative evaluation of the Community Helpers program.
