This presentation discussed the use of firearms as a method of suicide, noting that, in Canada, people who die by firearm suicide outnumber suicides by other methods. It was asserted psychiatrists have an important & active role to play in suicide prevention. They can intervene with a high prospect of success with individuals who might otherwise die because of easy access to guns & ammunition.
