This report provides an overview of the results of a multi-method evaluation of the comprehensive school-based youth suicide prevention & intervention program in Maine. Data were collected through interviews with key school personnel, a survey of all staff, a document analysis of written protocols, pre- & post-follow up of gatekeeper training participants, observation of classroom lessons, pre- & post-questionnaires of students, & event reports for each student identified to be at risk for suicide. Evaluation shows that project schools implemented the components of the comprehensive program with a high degree of fidelity. Results of the evaluation indicated a comprehensive approach is necessary to accomplish the goals of the project.
