In this letter to the editor, the authors report on their investigation of the putative role of the TPH2 (tryptophan hydroxylase 2) gene in suicide attempters. A study population consisting of 336 bipolar patients from 305 families were included in the research. A total of 86 patients had attempted suicide. (13 refs.)
