This study explored the participation of 104 parents bereaved by the suicide of a child in Internet support groups. Their demographic & loss-related characteristics were compared to 297 parent survivors participating in face-to-face support groups. Similar levels of urban, suburban, small city & rural residents were found in both subsamples. Bivariate & multivariate analyses suggested several important factors contributing to interest in Internet grief support including 24-hour availability & opportunities to invest more time into this type of support group experience. Compared to their face-face-group counterparts, Internet affiliates experienced greater suicide stigmatization from their families & other associates. (39 refs.)
