The incidence of farmer suicide in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state in India has increased dramatically. The authors used a psychological autopsy approach to offer insights into the reasons for these suicides. Suicide in farmers is a public health problem. Some immediate & serious interventions to prevent suicide are suggested. (10 refs.)
