The Relationship Between Suicidal Behavior, Ideation, and Binge Drinking Among College Students

This study provided empirical support for the relationship between drinking & suicide ideation & behaviour in college students. Data were collected from 338 students at an urban university. Significant relationships were found between past alcohol use & past suicide attempt(s) & between past binge drinking & past suicidal behaviour & ideation. Results are discussed in light of their implications for intervention with & assessment of students presenting with suicide ideation, behaviour, &/or binge drinking. (40 refs.)
