82 individuals with borderline personality disorder & a history of recurrent suicidal behaviours who recorded their current mood states, impulsivity, suicide ideation, & environmental stressors 6 times daily over 3 weeks were followed prospectively. Results suggested mood amplitude was correlated with impulsivity & that 4 subgroups defined by mean scores on mood amplitude & negative mood intensity significantly differed in the number of suicidal behaviours reported in the last year.
