This study assessed differential vulnerabilities of preparatory school adolescents to psychosocial problems with reference to their living arrangements & parental attachment. A comparative cross-section study was conducted in 2004 with a sample of 557 students using a pre-tested & structured questionnaire. Four focus groups were also held. 6% of students reported having attempted suicide in the 12 months preceding the study. Suicide attempts were linked to having a history of suicide attempt in the family or among friends, female gender, & sexual activity but not with family connectedness. (30 refs.)
