One well-accepted & widely practiced intervention for suicide ideation is the use of no-harm contracts, even though opinions about their use range from enthusiasm to apathy. The existing research does not support the use of such contracts as a method of preventing suicide nor for protecting clinicians from malpractice litigation in the event of client suicide. (35 refs.)
