This study used age-standardized data on homicide & suicide for 65 international locales. Weighted correlation coefficients between homicide & suicide rates were computed by gender, income levels, & geographic region. The overall correlation between homicide & suicide rates was weak & statistically insignificant. However, when analysed by geographic region the data revealed 2 distinct patterns: homicide & suicide rates were positively correlated in European countries but negatively correlated in the Asia Pacific region & the Americas.
