“Preventing Suicide in Gloucestershire – A Strategy for Action” 2006-2010

This document consists of a suicide prevention strategy, an action plan for Gloucestershire, & a supporting suicide audit for the county. Four goals form the basis for the action plan & include: reduction of suicides in high risk groups including rural communities, prisons, young men, carers & bereved families, those with mental illness or with issues around drug & alcohol use or sexuality or ethnicity; promotion of mental health in the wider population, particularly focusing on young people & preventing self-harm; improving service & monitoring information on suicide; & improving training & support for all professionals who experience the effects of suicidal behaviours or who make assessments of risk.
