The goals of this study were to compare aggression scores in suicide attempters & healthy volunteers in Madrid & New York City, & to determine whether higher aggression scores are associated with greater medical lethality of suicide attempts. Depressed suicide attempters from New York City made attempts of greater lethality & reported more lifetime aggressive behaviour than depressed attempters in Madrid. New York City healthy volunteers also reported more aggression than their Madrid counterparts. More research is needed to verify these results. (21 refs.)
