This article reviews the use of antipsychotic drugs in the treatment of acute mania & as maintenance treatment. The evidence for the use of atypical antipsychotic drugs, including their effects on suicidal behaviours, is discussed. Clozapine, risperidone, olanzapine, & other atypic antipsychotics are reviewed.
