This commentary begins by reviewing DanielÕs findings & recommendations regarding prison suicides (see SIEC #2006-0846) & then extends the discussion to include jail suicides. Some paradoxes & exceptions to general trends & recommendations are highlighted to advance the discussion on demographic correlates, screening methods, & interventions intended to prevent suicide in jails & prisons.
