Predicting the Suicide Attempts in Lesbian, gay, and Bisexual Youth

This article examines predictors of suicide attempts among lesbian, gay, & bisexual youth. Three separate groups were compared: youth who reported no attempts, youth who reported attempts which were unrelated to sexual orientation, & youth whose attempts were related to sexual orientation. The results show half of the attempts were related to sexual orientation. The impact of ones childhood is discussed. Parental conflict & verbal abuse may set the stage for suicide attempts.
