This article suggests that it is primarily the Huckleberry Finns of today who often find themselves in runaway shelters & in need of crisis intervention. A relevant review of literature on runaway youth in provided. Additionally, the Life Model is presented as a suggested lens through which to view a runaway crisis. Runaway shelters, recommendations for assessment & treatment, & research are also discussed. It is critical researches continue to review & collect information that is relevant to helping the runaway crisis. (89 refs.)(CH)
