The aim of this study was to explore & report beliefs about the explanations for suicide among Maori, held by a selected group of Maori leaders working in the area of Maori mental health & suicide. It begins with a synopsis of the material on indigenous suicide presented in the sociological literature review, followed by a selection of other material on indigenous suicide presented in the sociological literature review, followed by a selection of other material on indigenous suicide, including the descriptive epidemiology of suicide among Maori.
