This study examined the association between socioeconomic indicators & total, male, & female rates of suicide, as well as suicide & undetermined death in Ireland during the period 1968-2000. Analysis of this data, expressed as absolute values, proved significant association between the socioeconomic indicators & the total, male, & female suicide rates. However, when the data was analyzed using year-to-year differences it showed none of the socioeconomic indicators were associated with the total, male, or female suicide rates. (LC) (23 refs)
