The Burden of Suicide and Homicide of Wisconsin’s Children and Youth

The objective of this study is to describe the epidemiology of violent deaths of children & youth in Wisconsin between 2000-2002. The method used was by lining data from death certificates, coroners, Uniform Crime Reports, police case reports, & crime laboratories. The results show 585 people under 25 died from suicide or homicide. More in depth results are discussed. The authors recommend physicians & public health leaders collaborate with the criminal justice community & policy makers to develop & implement prevention programs & policies.(25 refs.)(CH)
