The author examines the practice implications of Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act. Current challenges posed by its implementation are identified, including the need to educate physicians about the Act itself, about their own responsibilities under it, & about the assessment & treatment of suicidal, terminally ill patients. New liability issues posed by the Act are also highlighted.
