A total of 68 sexually abused children & their nonoffending parents were reassessed 5 years after presentation & were compared with a cohort of children of similar age & sex who were not known to have been abused. Researchers found that significant differences between the groups remained after 5 years. Among these differences, it was found that abused children had significantly higher levels of bingeing, self-injury, & suicide attempts. (76 refs)
