This study analyzes 29 legally married spouse homicides that occurred in Fiji over an 11-year period. Findings show that husbands are 6 times more likely to kill a spouse than wives & that sexual jealousy & suspicions of infidelity are the most common precipitating factors in uxoricides. Significant differences also exist between female- & male-perpetrated spousal homicides. With respect to suicide following homicide, 28% of the male perpetrators in this study either attempted or completed suicide, compared to 0% of women offenders. (89 refs)
