Using DNA microarrays, the authors conducted a large-scale expression analysis, in 2 regions of the human prefrontal cortex from post-mortem matched groups of subjects with major depression who had died by suicide, & control subjects who died from other causes & were free from psychiatric disorders. Bioinformatic analysis was used to investigate molecular & cellular pathways potentially involved in depression & suicidal behaviour. They found no evidence for molecular differences that correlated with depression & suicide. (43 refs)
