This article describes a long-term treatment approach based on a model developed by French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan (1901-1981). It provides a first formulation (after about 4 years) of an ongoing case, which has been conducted exclusively by telephone. The myriad significations of a particular fetish object are drawn out & tied to the participant’s history, & evolution of the fetish during the course of analysis is described. The patient’s history of suicidal ideation is also discussed. (6 refs)
