The authors analyzed the suicide notes from studies of suicide among alcoholics conducted by E Robins & G Murphy. The present analysis suggested that these suicide notes of alcoholics did not differ from those of nonalcoholics. The authors found that core themes in the deaths of these subjects were unbearable psychological pain, cognitive constriction, indirect expression, rejection-aggression, & identification-egression.
