The recommendation is seen as a means of giving terminally ill patients a greater right in deciding whether to end their lives or not. The report emphasizes the importance of safeguards to prevent any abuse of passive euthanasia & simultaneously recommends that active euthanasia remain illegal. Recommendations for further improving end-of-life care are also discussed.
