Injury Status and Perspectives on Developing Community Safety Promotion in China

This paper introduces the epidemiology of injuries in China & considers the development of safe communities in regard to injury prevention & safety promotion. Suicide is identified as the main injury cause of death in China, & rates by geographic location & age are provided. The development of safe communities is examined as a possible injury-prevention strategy, & relevance for suicide prevention, particularly among the elderly, is discussed. (36 refs)
