This article comments on several aspects of a previous article by M Nirui & L Chenoweth on healthcare service support to suicide victims prior to their death. The current author suggests that the article is mistitled, but indicates that their conclusions are valid. He goes on to discuss negative attitudes toward psychiatric patients in general & at-risk suicide patients specifically, & suggests a multi-faceted solution, including staff education, emotional maturity, experience, & reduced workloads.
