In this chapter, the 2 most commonly diagnosed personality disorders, antisocial & borderline personality disorders, along with schizophrenia & major depressive episode, are reviewed in relation to crisis intervention. Characteristics of these disorders are discussed, along with the ways they may influence the behavior of subjects in a crisis situation. Effective responses to these behaviors are suggested. An appendix discussing the dangers of manipulating anxiety levels in psychologically disturbed patients is also included
