As part of a larger review of inmate services & conditions of custody in Saskatchewan correctional facilities, this report examines the nature of suicide & self-injury within the Saskatchewan inmate population. Rates of suicide & self-injury are presented. Issues associated with inmate suicide, including the health of the correctional environment, the role of corrections workers, suicide screening, & procedural responses to suicidal inmates & suicide victims, are discussed, & recommendations for future improvements are made.
