Hospice Nurses: Patients who Refuse Food and Water die Peacefully

This article briefly reports on a study in the New England Journal of Medicine in which hospice nurses who witnessed the deaths of terminally ill patients who refused food and water describe the deaths as “good.” Implications of the findings are discussed.
