In order to investigate the pattern of care psychiatric patients with high suicidal risks in Hong Kong received, the authors performed a territory-wide record linkage study of computerised psychiatric records of suicide cases according to coroner’s verdicts. They found that only 1/4 of the suicide population received psychiatric care. Differences between psychiatric patient & general population suicides are discussed. Among patient suicides, recent contacts with psychiatrists before completion were found to be common. (32 refs)
