This study examines the use of 7 Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory subscales in their ability to differentiate between male suicide completers & 1) clinically depressed men, & 2) a deceased control group consisting of men who have died of medical causes. The 7 scales were Defensiveness, Social Introversion, Ego Strength, Blaming Self, Impulsivity, Suppression & Outburst of Hostility, & Motivation to Change. Results indicated that suicide completers had significantly higher scores on Blaming Self & Social Introversion. (54 refs)
