Drug Overdosage due to Glutethimide: a Reappraisal of Management

A case of severe overdosage with glutethimide successfully managed in the Respiratory Care Unit is presented. Certain important principles in management are illustrated & discussed. The authors emphasize the hazards of prescribing Doriden, especially to the patient predisposed to suicide. They suggest expectant treatment standing ready to offer ventilatory support as the need arises. (12 refs)
