Abstract
Suicide After Deployment in UN Peacekeeping Missions – a Danish Pilot Study
Hansen-Schwartz J~~Jessen G~~et al
This pilot study looks at the frequency of suicide among Danish soldiers who took part in the UN mandated forces during the 1990s. In a contingent of nearly 300 Danish soldiers, four suicides were documented. Two soldiers died by suicide less than one month before deployment & the other two within a year after discharge from the mission. Contributing factors, prevention strategies, & implications for future research are discussed. (25 refs)
