Unanticipated Benefits of Automative Emission Control: Reduction in Fatalities by Motor Vehicle Exhaust Gas
Shelef M
This pamphlet asserts that the implementation of strict controls on emissions in motor vehicle exhaust gas in the United States has decreased the number of associated fatal accidents & suicides using this method. The author states that this control of emissions saved approximately 1200 lives that may have been accidentally lost & avoided approximately 1400 suicides in 1987. They conclude that with the spread of motor vehicle exhaust gas controls these benefits will accrue worldwide. (32 refs) (SC)
