This article comments on the suicide-related sympathy cards produced by Hallmark. The author asserts that while greeting cards are meant to commemorate a rite of passage, suicide is not a rite of passage at all & the card is a crass attempt to legitimize the illegitimate. He also claims that suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness, even if it might be the product of enormous personal anguish & suffering. (SC)
