This article discusses the legal status of physician-assisted suicide in the United States. It describes the decisions of the circuit courts in two ‘Right to Die’ cases & then analyzes the corresponding Supreme Court opinions. The authors speculate further decisions on this issue based on these opinions. A proposed model state act to authorize & regulate physician-assisted suicide is assessed along with a discussion of present state legislative activity. (338 refs) (SC)
