This article analyzes suicide & depression. Several studies are presented that show depression is highly correlative with suicide. Results indicate that depression is the most prominent clinical feature of people who die by suicide & that suicide risk scales based on depressive symptomology can predict over 1 or 2 years those who are most likely to die by suicide. Based on these findings, the author asserts that suicide must now be considered a preventable disorder. (19 refs) (SC)
