This letter to the editor addresses concerns the author has about negative responses to an article on assisted suicide in a previous issue of this journal. The present author reminds readers of the struggle to gain acceptance for the concept of palliative care. She argues that new topics such as assisted suicide must be debated & not simply dismissed.
