This article responds to J Werth’s concerns about lay person involvement in illegal, unregulated assisted death activities. The author disputes the necessity for a spiral of conflict between the NuTech assisted death activists & their opponents. He also challenges the idea that assisted death must be the dominion of medical control. To shed light on the respective arguments, the author proposes that empirical investigation into the use of NuTech death devices is required. (10 refs)
