This article discusses the role of the family in the origins of a suicidal state, & its role in resolving the suicidal crisis, especially when family therapy is available. Frequency of death wishes, homicidal ideations, & suicide pact-&-suicide-murder ideation, are discussed, along with success in therapy. Points of consideration are illustrated by case examples, mostly from the experience of the writer, demonstrating how destructive interactions can be transformed into life affirming ones. (4 refs)
